JL Ilsley High School Halloween Story

JL Ilsley High School Halloween Story

This story is created based on the submissions for the two sentence horror story contest…

Sweating and unable to move, I try to reach for my phone.  I feel a cold hand wrap around my right leg.

My knees tremble making me unable to move.  I watch as the large figure begins to walk toward me.

Everyone knows the feeling when you run up the stairs after turning the lights off.  But I’ve been running for two hours now…

I tried to run as the shadows crept closer and closer.  Finally, with a blood curling scream, I was sucked into an eternal darkness.

I could hear soft whispers and came to a sudden stop.  I could feel a cold breath on my neck, sending shivers down my spine.

I dropped my head to wash my face with water and a figure appeared behind me.  When I looked behind me no one was there.

All you could hear were faint cries of babies in the darkness.

And just at that moment, I could feel its presence coming.

I couldn’t move, breathe or speak.  I saw a shadow dripping blood.

The bloody hand came out.

I heard a chainsaw start.

A famous murderer escaped from a local prison.

I heard a noise and turned around to see..

This is the last week to submit your two scary stories for the Two Sentence Horror Story.  Ms. McDonald and I will be meeting with the Library Crew on Monday October 30th to put the story together.  Make sure to get your entry in by Thursday.

Here is a sampling of the submissions:

The hand was dripping with blood when it appeared in the open window.  It reached in and grabbed my arm...

I couldn't move, breathe or speak.  I saw a shadow cross my room dripping in blood.

Enjoy the Little Things by Angelina

You know those mornings when you wake up and make the perfect coffee or tea? Or those mornings when you watch the beautiful sunrise? Or when you finally have a moment to breathe because you’ve finished all your work? Do you ever take a moment to think about what life would be like without these small parts of our day? We take all these little moments for granted. Have you ever heard of the expression stop to smell the roses? If you haven’t, it means to stop and enjoy what is often overlooked. There was one day when I woke up way too early, I’m talking 3am too early. I read for a few hours and by then it was 6, so I walked downstairs to see what my dog was up to. He was still sleeping, of course. I made myself a cup of green tea. While I was waiting for the kettle to boil, I heard my cat meow. Usually, that would wake up my dog, but he was still sleeping. I opened the door a tiny crack and I saw a tiny ball of fur sneak through the crack. He was being so brave, especially because my dog was not in his kennel or outside. Now my cat and dog don’t get along at all, but it wasn’t until I went to open the gate to let my cat outside that my dog moved from the couch. My dog sprang up and went straight for the cat, while the cat ran away upstairs. I blocked my dog as quickly as I could and directed him into his kennel. My cat was sitting so perfectly on the stairs, slunk down the stairs, and went to the front door. I unlocked the door and opened a crack to let him out, but I got a glimpse of the sunrise. I’ve never seen something so beautiful before in my life. The way the oranges and the pinks mixed with the purples and the blues. It was absolutely stunning. I was so transfixed on the sunrise that I hadn’t noticed I was now outside without shoes on, standing in the middle of my yard, watching the sunrise. Once I realized where I was, I went back inside to let my dog out of his kennel. After I let the dog out, I added a bit of honey to my tea. By then, the tea was the perfect drinking temperature. I took one sip and thought, wow this is the best tea I’ve ever made. I sat down at the table with my tea and finished up all the schoolwork I had to do. It took me until 10am to finish all my work. I was so grateful and happy for the ability to make tea, have a cat and dog, and to watch the sunrise. That would be my definition of a perfect morning. Well, mostly, I can do without the dog and cat fighting, but at least they are getting there. So next time you make that perfect cup of coffee or tea or you watch that sunrise appreciate all the small things because: one you never know how long you have to enjoy the little things and two there is someone who doesn’t get to have those luxuries of doing them.
